Sonnet Thunderbolt AVB Adapter

Compact, Professional Bus-powered Gigabit Ethernet Adapter with AVB Support for Mac Computers with Thunderbolt Ports

The Single-adapter Solution for Connecting to Pro Tools | Carbon

The Avid^® Pro Tools | Carbon audio interface is a revolutionary tool for music production. Its eight onboard HDX processors and custom FPGA technology allow for near-zero latency tracking and monitoring when using AAX DSP plug-ins. Carbon connects to your Mac^® via Ethernet using a proprietary version of AVB (Audio Video Bridging, or IEEE 802.1). If your computer lacks built-in Ethernet, you'll need an AVB-capable Thunderbolt™ Gigabit Ethernet adapter. The Avid Qualified Sonnet Thunderbolt AVB adapter serves as the ideal single-adapter solution to connect your supported Mac with Thunderbolt ports to the Carbon interface.

AVB-compliant Ethernet Adapter – Connect to Other Devices On a Network

Beyond its support for the Pro Tools | Carbon interface, Sonnet Thunderbolt AVB Adapter enables you to add your Mac as an endpoint in an AVB network and connect to other devices such as audio interfaces, mixers, plug-in processors, personal monitor stations, stage boxes, speakers, speaker processors, and others. Audio Video Bridging support makes the adapter perfect for use in pro audio and video applications where synchronization of data streams is critical.

Thunderbolt Interface for Low Latency
Featuring a high-speed Thunderbolt interface, Sonnet Thunderbolt AVB Adapter supports the low-latency, fully synchronized streaming of audio and video over Ethernet required for Avid Pro Tools | Carbon and AVB support.

Bus-powered Operation
Operating off its Thunderbolt connection, Sonnet Thunderbolt AVB Adapter is bus-powered, so there’s no need to plug in a power supply or power cable.

Pocketable. Powerful. Gigabit Ethernet to Go.

Sonnet Thunderbolt AVB Adapter measures just 1.5 inches wide by 3.9 inches deep by 0.8 inches tall, small enough to tuck out of sight or fit easily into a pocket in your backpack or equipment bag. Enabling truly portable use, this Sonnet adapter is powered by your computer’s Thunderbolt port, connected through the included Thunderbolt cable.

Simple Setup – Drivers and Configuration App Built Into macOS

The basic drivers that support Sonnet Thunderbolt AVB Adapter are included in macOS^®. Basic configuration takes place in Network control panel, while configuration for use in AVB applications is handled in the Audio MIDI Setup application and control software.

All the Right Connections – Thunderbolt Cable and ThunderLok Included

Sonnet includes a Thunderbolt cable that supports Thunderbolt’s maximum bandwidth and is fully compatible with current Thunderbolt computers. Sonnet also provides a ThunderLok™ Thunderbolt connector retainer clip that prevents accidental cable disconnections.
