By putting power exactly where it matters most — straight to your NVMe drive — instead of a distracting, battery-draining fan, your long renders, massive exports, and live previews stay smooth and stable.

The Power of No
No adapter, no external power brick… just one included USB4 cable so you can bus power the Express 1M2 80G’s supreme speed anywhere, anytime.

Maximum Performance and Compatibility
Express 1M2 80G utilizes the latest USB4 technology and a USB-C connector for a one-two performance and compatibility punch so you can knock out challenging barriers with your Mac, PC, iPad Pro, Chromebook, or Surface device.

The Needs of the Many

More than a greatly memorable Star Trek movie line, we’ve believed from day one in doing what’s best for the most people. We listen to your requirements and preferences and then create unique solutions to meet the needs of many. On the surface, our Express 1M2, Express 1M2 80G, and Envoy Ultra can seem quite similar. Here’s a quick overview to help you see the power of variety and the magic of the one you choose:

OWC Express 1M2
(40Gb/s original model)

Ideal for use with USB4 40Gb/s and USB-C 10Gb/s Mac and PC computers, iPads, and tablets.

OWC Express 1M2 80G
Specifically optimized for Thunderbolt 3/4/5 and USB4 80Gb/s computers. When all you want is pure blistering speed, the option to build your own or choose a ready-to-run solution, and the ability to upgrade it in future.

OWC Envoy Ultra
When you want the reliable performance of Thunderbolt Certified 80Gb/s, the security of an IP67 waterproof rating, and the convenience of an integrated cable – the only decision you need to make is which capacity to choose.

1. Over 6000MB/s sequential read/write peak performance speed based on testing a 2.0TB OWC Aura IV equipped Express 1M2 80G connected to a Mac Studio (2025) M3 Ultra running AJA System Test (4K-Full resolution, 64GB file size, 16bit RGB codec, single file test). Performance will vary depending on drive and application used.
2. PCs, Chromebooks, and Surface devices require a Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 5, or USB4 port to use Express 1M2 80G.
3. PCIe Gen 5 NVMe M.2 SSDs require careful selection and verification of manufacturer specifications due to the bus-power limits of host computers, docks, and hubs. We recommend choosing a PCIe Gen 5 SSD that consumes 11 watts or less on average during sustained read or write operations such as the Samsung 9100 Pro Series Gen 5 NVMe.
